“How can you exercise your right to vote and be a good citizen if the system sucks, only producing shit!”
- furious Filipino who is oh so excited to take his part in changing his country’s future but name is not on the voters list.
That's how exactly I felt earlier this afternoon when I went to the precinct that I thought where I’m supposed to exercise my right to vote. I should tell you, it’s (supposedly) my first time and I was so excited about it last Monday that I even planned on doing it first thing in the morning. Good thing I wasn't so serious about not getting some sleep anymore and head directly to my precinct straight from gala. And so, I woke up @ 4ish PM, got a heavy brunch (as always) and headed to the precinct. Good thing I saw my mom's friend there and assisted me to look up my name in those piles and piles of papers just to find nothing - my name is not in the voter's list. Son of a bitch!
I feel disappointed about the current system we have, though we are now having this unreasonably expensive automated system, the names of the voter’s are still listed in papers. Before you can proceed to the classroom where you’ll do the shading, you still have to check for your name on those piles of parers, sure you don’t wanna line up for couple of hours then find out that YOU CAN NOT VOTE. Right?
And so, to sum up the election day for me, I wasn’t able to vote!
Nice one. : )
